TERPIN - Walter M. Born August 15, 1923, died December 15, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Jeanne E. Jackson; son of the late John Terpin, Sr. and Antonina Krzyzanowski; brother to (all late) Theodore (Evelyn), Stephen (Mary), John (Doris), Chester (Hedwig), Stanislaus (Geraldine), Teresa Mutton (Arden); father of Michael (Maxine) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Mark and Christopher (Kathleen) Terpin of Buffalo; dear brother-in-law to the late Helen Chaffee; also survived by many nieces, nephews and their descendants. Walter was a WWII Veteran and worked near Oxford, England in Photo Reconnaissance for the U.S. Air Force, where he developed before and after photographs for Allied bombing raids. Upon returning to the U.S., he studied at the Albright School of Art and the University at Buffalo to learn oil and acrylic painting and also earned a teaching certificate. He worked about ten years at Dary/Birge Wallpaper meticulously transcribing paintings to plastic positives used to create their world famous wallpapers. For most of his career he managed the paint and silk screening departments for Curbell, Inc. He pursued his enduring love of art in his spare time and created many wonderful paintings (https://terpin.art). A portrait of Christ earned him an honorable mention in a national art contest judged by art critic and historian Sr. Wendy Beckett. In his retirement years and final days at Eden Heights, he created abstract digital art on his computer. Mr. Terpin, a devout Catholic, was a former longtime parishioner of St. Lawrence Church.
