Timothy Lowrey,
Pharmd
Feb 17, 1967 — Jan 1, 2026
Timothy William Lowrey, PharmD February 17, 1967 - January 1, 2026 Of Buffalo, NY. Timothy William Lowrey, 58, died peacefully, and surrounded by love, in his home in Buffalo on Jan. 1, 2026. Following graduation from Iroquois High School in Elma, where he built lifelong friendships, played football, and joined the band, Tim attended the University of Florida's School of Pharmacy. Tim was a pharmacist at Publix, and then at Wegmans, where he was known by colleagues and customers alike for his kindness, reliability, and good humor. Living in the Elmwood Village in the early 2000s, Tim volunteered on many community-building projects, including painting the Urban Roots Garden Co-op and installing the concrete totems, and renovating blighted homes for families with low incomes on Buffalo's West side. After receiving a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Tim became an advocate in the ALS community, championing a Zoom panel series program to teach thousands of students and professionals in health care how to better care for people living with ALS, with national nonprofit I AM ALS. Tim was co-recipient of the Scott Davis Amplify Awareness Award from I AM ALS in 2024 for this work. Tim was a Research Ambassador for the Northeast ALS Consortium and did other important ALS volunteer advocacy in small working groups that targeted tough problems to solve. He and his Wegmans and McKesson colleagues, and wife, held fundraisers to benefit voice banking for people living with ALS for Team Gleason. Tim is survived by many loving family and friends: Emily Wester Lowrey, his wife of 20 years and caregiver for over 7 years; mother, Margaret Ruth Lowrey; sister, Aimee Lowrey; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jo Ann and Ronald Wester; brother-in-law, Chris Wester (Colleen); nieces Brynleigh Wester and Alexis Wester; his dog, Paco; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lowrey Sr.; and brother, Robert Lowrey Jr. Tim's special friends include Dave Jezewski, Erin Brody, Colleen Cai, Mike Keating, Tim Abeska, Juliet Taylor, Katrina Byrd, Troy Smith, Tim Yuskiw, Caroline Tredway, and many others. The family wishes to thank Omina for her skilled and loving care in the final year of Tim's life. We also extend our gratitude to Katelyn McCormack at Dent Neurology, Steve at Respicair, Wegmans, East Aurora Baptist Church, the ALS community and many others who supported Tim throughout the final years of his life. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to donate may consider the following nonprofits that Tim held dear: Hearts for ALS WNY, I AM ALS (in honor of Tim Lowrey Panel Series), ALS Therapy Development Institute, the Jason Becker Creative Care Project, Hark for ALS, Live Like Lou, and Team Gleason.
