STYNES - Thomas Francis A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully January 21, 2025 at the age of 85 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport, NY. Tom was born on July 28, 1939 in Niagara Falls, NY to Irene and William Stynes. He grew up in the Village of Lewiston in the house that his father built. He helped his father build several homes throughout Lewiston, learning the building trades while working alongside his father. Tom met his wife, the late Carol Stynes (nee Schramek), at LewPort High School. The two married in 1962 and had four children together. They shared an interest in renovating and improving every home they lived in. Tom loved building and designing, while Carol loved to decorate and garden. Tom and Carol were married for over 50 years and enjoyed travelling, connecting with life-long friends and always making new friends everywhere they went. Time spent with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought them much joy throughout the years. Tom and Carol were snowbirds, visiting their Florida home every winter for over 20 years.

Tom worked as a computer analyst at a time when computers were rapidly evolving from mainframes to punch cards to personal computers. This was an exciting time for Tom. He was at the top of his field and was selected to attend technical classes at Princeton University to stay current with the rapidly changing field of computers. He was always interested in new technologies and found fun ways for his family to share in his passion for computers, from introducing the first video game "Pong" to his kids in the 70s, to playing CD-ROM games with his grandkids in the late 90s. He was an avid golfer, playing on courses across Western New York and helping to run a golf league in Florida. Golfing with friends (new and old) was a source of great joy. He was particularly proud of developing his own golf software program, Golftrax, which is still being used in golf leagues in Canada and Florida. Tom had a passion for genealogy and spent many hours researching his family history, tracing his lineage back to Ireland and other parts of Europe. He also loved tending and planting gardens throughout his condo complex.

Our dad will be dearly missed by family and many friends. His family was his pride and joy and he always loved spending time with his four children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was always a person you could count on and would drop everything to help anyone in need. He always led by example, showing us the importance of family and good friends.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Niagara Hospice and the home aides from HART Inc in Lewiston for the care they showed our dad.
