GAVETT - Sandra (nee Pease) October 8, 1948 - February 16, 2026 Of Hamilton, NY, February 16, 2026. Born Sandra Lee Pease in St. Albans, VT, Sandy grew up in Alburgh, VT, graduating valedictorian of her class from Alburgh High School. While an undergraduate at the University of Vermont, she began working in the university library, and she continued working in libraries until retiring in 2013. She loved and nurtured the students who worked for her at Colgate University Libraries, many of whom called her "Mom." She was loved by many for her kindness; her generosity; her ability to make others feel heard, especially in the trials of their lives; and her warm smile and gentle spirit and sense of humor. She will be missed by Frank, her husband of 46 years; her daughter Dr. Emily Gavett-Liu of Guelph, Ontario and her husband Dr. Anson Liu; her daughter Joanne Stephens of Prosper, Texas; her granddaughters Rebecca and Isabella; her sisters Shirley Aubin of Vergennes, VT, Jean Tacy of Champlain, NY, and Melodie Poquette and her husband Michael of Alburgh, VT; her nieces and nephews; and friends whose lives were better for having known her. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Pease. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
