GERRAUGHTY - Roddy F., Ph.D. Of Altoona, PA, December 19, 2020. Beloved significant other of Cathy Lashua; dearest father of James F. (Jordanna) Gerraughty; son of the late Francis Joseph and Elizabeth Ann (Pearce) Gerraughty; brother of Betty (Mark) Feulner, and Delia Gerraughty (preceded in death); also survived by nephews, cousins, and friends. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. He obtained a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. Roddy was a professor of philosophy, and an instructor of bicycle riding (it was a physical education class) at Penn State Altoona (Pennsylvania). Many students from the era recall some grueling lectures and grueling centuries (100-mile bike rides) as part of the class, as well as his dry sense of humor. Following his teaching career, he transitioned to information technology and systems programming at various IT firms in the Altoona area. He began working for Mid State Bank (now part of M&T Bank Corporation) in 1987, and retired from M&T in 2014 as a senior programmer.
