RIEDEL - Paul F. Of Buffalo, NY, September 10, 2023, at age 83. He was the son of Margaret and Edmund Riedel (deceased) and the brother of Donald Riedel (deceased) and Pamela Allan (deceased). Loving husband to Patricia (Smith) Riedel and loving father to Kerri Riedel (Peter Trombetto) and Amy Hewson (Marty Benzinger), and grandfather to the love of his life, Owen Trombetto; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1965 as an engineer serving his last three months in Vietnam. Upon leaving the U.S. Army he worked at the Army Corp. of Engineers for 10 years. In 1969, Paul was one of five Army Corp. of Engineer employees that were chosen to work on the American Falls when it was blocked to study the rocks and debris below. Following the Army Corp. of Engineers, Paul worked for Elia Construction for a short time before becoming the owner of the Holiday Motel on Main Street in Williamsville, NY. Paul ran the motel with his wife from 1973 through 2007. During that time, Paul became very involved with the local Western NY Hotel/Motel Association and from there worked his way up to become Chairman of the NYS Association with only a 17-unit motel being up against owners and managers of hotels all over NYS. Following Paul's retirement in 2007, Paul enjoyed spending as much time as he could at the family Cottage on Cuba Lake. Paul will be missed by all his family and friends.
