LOPIAN - Mary (nee Fenzel, Mitchell) Of Williamsville, NY, February 15, 2022. Predeceased in death by her parents; brothers, George and Jack Fenzel; husbands, John Mitchell and Henry Lopian; and daughter, Susan Harrington. She is survived by sons, Peter Mitchell, who cared for her for many years, and Kevin Mitchell; daughter, Ann Kuntz (Michael); son-in-law, Rick Harrington; stepsons, Michael Lopian (Linda) and Larry Lopian (Kathy); grandchildren, Shauna Hagen (Dan), Ian Harrington, Brendan Kuntz (Meghan), Michelle Tunison (Andrew), Max Mitchell (Maketa), Lian Mitchell, Tom Lopian (Kristen), Susie Stuck (Levi), Mark (Julie) Lopian, Kailey Artiles (Rafael), Erik Lopian, and Sarah Lopian; great-grandchildren, Tim Hagen, Jack Kuntz, Crosby Tunison, Kyle Fitzgerald, Murdoc Mitchell, Maeve Mitchell, Lila Lopian, Kara Lopian, Whitney Stuck, Evan Stuck and Luca Artiles; also survived by nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Born in 1929, to parents, Joe and Agnes Fenzel. She grew up in Red Creek, NY, where she pumped gas at her family's gas station. She picked vegetables at neighboring farms as a young girl. Mary taught science, while raising four children, at Buffalo area schools, retiring from Bennett High School. She was active in the Democratic Party, where she was a committeewoman, raised money, carried petitions for nominees, helped get Democrats elected, walked door-to-door, get out the vote, and attended rallies working for Hillary Clinton, Carl McCall, Louise Slaughter, and many local Dems. She enjoyed birdwatching, throughout the U.S., Europe, and Hawaii, while traveling with Henry and then later in the backyard. No prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at S.S. Peter & Paul Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville, NY, Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
