MEISENBURG - John P. "Johnny"

November 1, 1955 -  August 25, 2026

Of Cheektowaga, NY, at age 70, passed away on August 25, 2026, at Sisters of Charity Hospital following a long illness. Born November 1, 1955, in North Tonawanda, Johnny was raised in Pendleton, NY.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his love of telling a good joke and a long story, as well as his ability to make people laugh—lightening even the toughest moments. He loved his family, grandchildren, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs and snowmobiles, vacations, Westerns, history, country music, and the Buffalo Bills. He was rarely seen without his signature beard and mustache.

John is survived by his wife, Sharon Meisenburg; his children, Derek Meisenburg and Jennifer Kopec (Kevin); stepson, Nicolas DiPalo; his former wife, Kimberly Meisenburg; his grandchildren, Dominik, Jonah, Elisa, Kay, and Kevin; his beloved dog, Sophia; his sisters, Phyllis Calabretta, Barbara Hermann, and Patricia Ackman; his brother, Michael Meisenburg; and hundreds of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Marie Meisenburg, and sister, Marie Gideon.

John will be remembered most for the laughter, stories, and memories he created with the people he loved. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held Friday, August 28, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at the Marlboro Inn, 5894 Ward Road, Sanborn, NY. Family and friends are welcome to come share memories and celebrate John’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to support Sharon and help create a lasting memorial for John with an apple tree in his honor. Any contribution or share of this fundraiser is deeply appreciated. https://gofund.me/36945469c
