SCHMIDT - Gale A. (nee Szafranski) June 18, 1954 - June 4, 2026 - Improving the lives of others was the goal of Gale Schmidt, who passed away, June 4, 2026.

Born June 18, 1954, in Hamburg, New York, Gale graduated from Immaculata Academy in Hamburg before attending Bryant & Stratton College. She worked as a teacher's aide, crossing guard and held other positions with Buffalo Public Schools.

Mrs. Schmidt was the proud mother of four sons, Donald (Wendy), Dennis and Daniel (Katie) Yacobucci and the late Douglas Paul Yacobucci. She adored her grandchildren, Harper, Logan and Cameron. She was most happy spending time with them and her beloved husband, Fred, whom she married on October 12, 1990, who survives.

Mrs. Schmidt helped anyone she could, making jewelry and the many knitted items her family received each Christmas, usually when she hosted a traditional Polish Christmas Eve celebration at her home.

She is the daughter of the late John and Catherine Szafranski and is survived by two sisters and their husbands; Sharon and Tony Turano and their children, Holly Turano (Reed Bagley) and Madelynn Turano (Ryan Scott); Ellen and Mike Mahany and their children, Katy Mahany, Krissy and Andy O'Harrow and their children.
