Obituary

BEHM - Barbara Ann Barbara was born December 2, 1942, to her parents Kermit and Gertrude Behm, who instilled in her the values that she lived, moved on to eternity surrounded by her family on January 12, 2025 at the age of 82. She is survived by her sons Robert Sperling and Paul Sperling (Cheryl), brother Michael Behm(Maria), sister Carol Behm Tremblett Busalachi, beloved granddaughter Jessica Sperling, former daughter in law Sue Ann Sperling along with many cherished and beloved friends and sisters "joined at heart." Her passing was preceded by her father Kermit Behm, mother Gertrude Behm, brother Paul Behm and sister Phyllis King who are all enjoying the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Barbara loved and fully embraced life. From her childhood and Catholic upbringing, as a devoted sister and aunt to her "golden years" there was nothing that she was not willing to try. Her free spirit and her strong work ethic was what attracted to her to former husband Lester Sperling with whom she brought her 2 sons Robert and Paul into the world. Barbara adored her family and was deeply dedicated to keeping everyone together. She was known to be the "life of the party" and pretty much anywhere she went a "party" would break out. Her humor was quick, and she loved to be silly just to make others laugh. She was a vibrant and dynamic spirit who would brighten up any room she walked into and would quickly become the center of attention bring laughter and excitement into the atmosphere. She worked as a State employeeAt Fredonia State retiring from Buffalo State College where she tirelessly served the students and community for over 25 years. She instilled her strong work ethic into her boys and encouraged them both to serve in the Military where her heart was tied to. Barbara's heart was deeply tied to honoring our Military members. She was a Life Member of the Americans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and The American Legion Auxiliary. She truly loved serving our veterans and honoring all who gave everything for the freedoms we hold dear today. Barbara was very athletic. She absolutely adored our Buffalo Bills, softball, camping, fishing, playing cards and games with her family, throwing parties and hosting holidays at her home, being outdoors and most of all she loved her many adventures with her beloved granddaughter Jessica who would take her line dancing and experiencing life with youthful vigor. Barbara fully loved life and worked hard to make her "little corner of the world "a better place." While she leaves behind many broken hearts, she will live on in those who loved her and knew her. May the memories be sweet and the laughter she gifted us with be what carries us through. And in her last words "GO BILLS!" A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held in her honor at the VFW Post 5007, 20 Sandhill Rd, Gowanda, NY 14070 Friday January 17th starting at 6 PM. All are welcome.
